May 19, 2021

Partner Deborah Mallgrave has been honored as one of Daily Journal’s 2021 Top Women Lawyers.  The award is given to California lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill in their legal practice.  She also was honored in 2020.

Mallgrave chairs the firm’s Sexual Abuse and Human Trafficking Litigation Practice and regularly holds the largest corporations and institutions accountable for injustice and wrongdoing.  A pioneering advocate for survivors of childhood sexual abuse and human trafficking, Mallgrave is lead counsel in a high-profile human trafficking and civil RICO case against the global religious institution La Luz Del Mundo for sexual assault, forced labor and other criminal acts.  In 2020, Mallgrave was lead counsel in a lawsuit against the City and County of San Francisco to end dangerous and illegal conditions in the Tenderloin neighborhood that exploded during the pandemic and adversely affected the area’s 3,000 children. The resulting settlement ended the crisis and resulted in safe shelter for unhoused people.  Mallgrave has deep experience in a broad variety of complex litigation matters and e-discovery.

Mallgrave is the past president of the Public Law Center, a pro bono law firm that works with 1,600 lawyers and other volunteers to provide free legal services and access to justice to low-income and vulnerable residents of Orange County.
