About
Sam Velas is a Massachusetts attorney whose practice focuses on representing employees and survivors of sexual assault in complex civil litigation. He is committed to helping individuals hold institutions accountable when they fail to protect the people they are meant to serve, particularly in cases involving workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and sexual misconduct.
Sam approaches his work with both empathy and determination, recognizing that many clients come forward during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. He is passionate about advocating for survivors of sexual assault and employees who have been mistreated or silenced in the workplace. Through careful preparation, thoughtful legal analysis, and a deep respect for his clients’ experiences, Sam works to ensure that those who have been harmed are heard and that the institutions responsible are held accountable.
Sam earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law. During law school, he served as Executive Editor of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal and participated in the Animal Law Clinic, where he advocated for the protection and welfare of animals through legal advocacy.
While in law school, Sam also gained valuable experience within the federal judiciary as a judicial intern for the Honorable Sarala Nagala of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. In addition, he provided research assistance for a paper published in the Georgetown Law Review.
Sam brings this strong academic foundation and commitment to public interest advocacy to his work representing employees and survivors seeking justice.
