Greenberg Gross LLP has filed a lawsuit on behalf of Kenneth Caillat, renowned former sound engineer for Fleetwood Mac, against the creators of the Tony Award-winning Broadway play “Stereophonic.” The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, alleges that the play unlawfully appropriates material from Caillat’s 2012 memoir, “Making Rumours,” co-authored with Steven Stiefel.
The complaint asserts that “Stereophonic,” which has been celebrated for its depiction of a 1970s rock band recording an album, mirrors the narrative arc and specific scenes from Caillat’s memoir. The memoir details Caillat’s experiences during the production of Fleetwood Mac’s iconic album “Rumours.” The lawsuit highlights several alleged similarities, including character arcs and dialogues, suggesting that the play’s storyline closely follows the book’s content.
Greenberg Gross seeks damages and an injunction to prevent further performances of “Stereophonic,” aiming to protect the intellectual property rights of their client.
